One Nation Commits $10 Million Dollars for Driver Education Facility in Townsville
Queensland One Nation Senator, Pauline Hanson and State leader Steve Dickson will unveil a commitment of $10 million dollars to build North Queensland’s first Driver Education and Motorsport Facility in Calcium this Friday.
The $10 million dollar pledge has been made, should One Nation hold the balance of power in Queensland with one or more seats in Townsville, Thuringowa, Mundingburra or Hinchinbrook in the upcoming State election.
Mr Dickson said “We have over 1400 Police in North Queensland that will benefit from this facility. Police will soon avoid the need to travel to Brisbane for driver training purposes, not to mention other emergency service personnel including Ambulance, Fire and SES workers.”
University of Queensland research says over 25,000 serious road incidents occur each year in Australia and Queensland trauma incidents equate to billions of dollars of expense to the Queensland Government.
“If we can reduce fatal and non-fatal accidents throughout Queensland by introducing better driver training, we will reduce the human costs including hospitalisation, disruption to employment, vehicle repairs, cut down emergency service call outs and most importantly the loss of loved ones,” Mr Dickson said.
“DriveIt North Queensland have been calling for Government support on this project for 10 years. It’s about time the facility became a reality.”
“There aren’t too many organisations who can promote a self funding model once the facility is built and have the support of not only the community, but organisations like the RACQ and CAMS.”
“One Nation are committed to saving lives, creating much needed full time jobs in Townsville and keeping money in the North instead of losing it to Brisbane”.
Mr Dickson believes One Nation will win a number of North Queensland seats and is confident an early election would see the DriveIt NQ facility start works in early 2018 with One Nation’s commitment.
