Strike Three For The Senate: They’re Out!

MEDIA RELEASE

2 December 2021

Australians are being urged to kick out the unrepresentative swill in the Senate at the next election following their third failure to give people a fair hearing over vaccine mandates, coercion and discrimination.

One Nation leader Senator Pauline Hanson said senators who did not support or even understand basic democratic principles had no business representing the Australian people.

“Labor, Greens and crossbench senators have today again denied the Australian people the opportunity they deserve to express their opposition to vaccine coercion to a parliamentary inquiry,” Senator Hanson said.

“This pack of gutless cowards will do anything to silence the Australian people. They’re mortally afraid of what Australians might tell them in an open inquiry. They won’t let Australians tear down the deceitful edifice they have constructed – that people opposed to this coercion are all extremists to be dismissed and ignored. We’re not anti-vax. We’re pro-choice, and we’ll never stop fighting for the right to choose.

“For the second time, they’ve colluded to prevent my legislation being referred to an inquiry and it’s ultimately the third time they’ve knocked back the bill.

“They’ve had their opportunities to stand up for the rights of the Australian people and failed at every occasion. They do not belong in Parliament if they cannot represent the will of the people.

“But while they’ve made every effort to silence us, what they cannot do is prevent the Australian people having their say at the next election. Ultimately, we are all accountable as elected lawmakers and the next election is the best opportunity for Australians to choose representatives who will stand for their rights.

“Those representatives who support these most fundamental rights will be standing for election as candidates for One Nation. I have absolute confidence in the Australian people to make the right choices for themselves, their families, their communities and their nation.”

Government Covers Up Deaths In Custody Facts

STATEMENT

We have to be careful when we allow our emotions and our desires to “do good”, no matter how well-intentioned they are, to overwhelm the truth.

I hope you will publish this letter so your readers can see some of the facts that were included in my fellow Senator Malcolm Roberts’ motion, which has been twice “denied formality” in the Senate, preventing it from being properly considered.

This was another gang-up by the Liberals and Labor against One Nation and the truth.

The 2020 Australian Institute of Criminology report into ‘Deaths in custody in Australia’ noted that the 2017-18 rate of death in prison custody for: (A) Indigenous persons was 0.14 per 100 prisoners, and (B) non-indigenous persons was 0.18 per 100 prisoners.

The report also noted that the 2017-18 total deaths in police custody and custody-related operations was: (A) three Indigenous persons; and (B) 14 non-indigenous persons.

In the 2017-18 year 79% of indigenous deaths in prison custody were due to natural causes.

Some other facts from the AIC, which is an independent body, reveal that over the decade to 2018: (A) non-Indigenous persons were nearly twice as likely as Indigenous persons to hang themselves in prison custody, and (B) motor vehicle pursuits represented 38% of Indigenous deaths in police custody and custody-related operations.

It’s also interesting to see that from 2006 to 2016, a 41% increase in Indigenous imprisonment rates corresponded with a 42% increase in people identifying as Indigenous.

Myself and Senator Roberts believe these facts are worth noting and debating, no matter what side of the political fence your readers sit.

If we can’t openly debate those things that are sensitive and controversial, we will struggle to find solutions to problems to the benefit of all Queenslanders.

One Nation’s apprenticeships program a proven success

MEDIA RELEASE

A senior Australian Government minister has praised the success of a new apprenticeships program that was achieved by One Nation Senator Pauline Hanson.

Australia’s Regional Apprenticeship Program was negotiated by Senator Hanson late last year, and has been so successful that it has been repeated for a second time.

It effectively has provided valuable training in trades careers for more than 3100 young Australians in rural and regional areas – with more training places to come.

Minister for Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business, Senator Michaelia Cash, described  the program as “a success” during Senate Estimates hearings, adding that “the take up was very good, the feedback we have received to date is very good”.

Senator Hanson used the senate estimates hearing to push for further extensions of the program.

“Just on the apprenticeship scheme, you know how I am passionate about this, and I’m glad the government took up my initiative with the apprenticeship scheme…  I understand that was rolled out in January this year…?” the Senator asked.

Linda White, of the Employment Department’s Workforce and Apprenticeships office, responded: “Round one was rolled out on the first of January; I can let you know that, in that round, 1629 places were taken up; there are still a couple of places left in the Northern Territory. There was no time limit for when the places to be taken up, we expect those will be taken up in due course.”

Senator Hanson:  “So you rolled out the program again in July?”

Ms White: “Yes, on the first of July we had phase two of the program; as of the 30th of September, 1558 places had been taken up. We still have 11 in what I would regard is a due diligence check, where we are confirming that the arrangements are satisfactory, and there’s still 63 places remaining on round two.”

Senator Hanson: “Will you consider rolling out another one, because I do have businesses asking, about putting on apprentices?”

Minister Cash: “It is a pilot program as you know, but, certainly, based on the success of the first round, we did make a decision – because it is additional apprentices, so it’s over and above, or new apprentices; the take up was very good, the feedback we have received to date is very good, and, in particular, because it is concentrated on rural and regional small businesses.”

The Regional Australia Apprenticeship Program secured by Senator Hanson sees the Federal Government pay 75% of the apprentice’s first year’s wage, followed by 50% in the second year and 25% in the third year.
